Lars Monsen is a beloved Norwegian explorer and broadcaster famous for his televised expeditions into the inhospitable regions of Scandinavia, Alaska and Canada. We were tasked with developing a visual identity and brand strategy for Lars Monsen’s personal brand as well as packaging design for his range of outdoor products created in close collaboration with trusted suppliers and rigorously tested by Lars himself.
A sans-serif simplicity, limited colour palette and unique monogram blends technology and individuality with a reference to the steep climb of a mountain face. Paired with a strong portrait image, capturing Lars’ recognisable and climate hardened image, tinted red, is expressive and communicative at any size and in any context.
Anárjohka is Lars’ first range but will be followed by future collaborations. Our design solution provides a strong, recognisable and cohesive foundation from which to build upon and that functions well across a variety of categories and touch points, be that small tags, medium boxes or large in-store posters.
